Title II

OVERVIEW:

TITLE II is designed to improve educator quality and ensure all students have access to highly-qualified teachers. It provides funding for programs that support teacher preparation, professional development, and leadership training. A key component of Title II is class-size reduction (CSR) where smaller class sizes have been shown to improve student achievement by allowing for more individualized instruction to take place. Monies can also be used to strengthen school leadership by enhancing the skills of principals and other leaders.

The Marshall County School District primarily allocates its Title II funding to hire additional highly-qualified, effective teachers for the purpose of class-size reduction. When available, MCS also uses these funds to support professional development initiatives focused on recruiting, training, and retaining high-quality educators.
