Teachers and faculty were introduced individually for their accomplishments and also were presented with two gifts.
“This has been a lot of hard work and we know that. That’s why we wanted to make a big deal about it. This has been a long process for you. It’s not like you had a leave of absence to do this, you were working and doing all your other duties as well,” said Cindy Wigley, Marshall County Schools Superintendent.
“We appreciate Mrs. Kerry Bush and Mrs. Tish Bryant for helping us put that at the forefront of some of our goals just simply because we feel like it’s very important. It’s something we wanted to help our teachers with. I hope you all have had the best experience possible and I hope we have supported you in any way that you needed. And if there is anything we can do better please let us know. We want to encourage more teachers to and while you’re out talking about it. Please talk to some of our other teachers and encourage them as well.”
According to Wigley, being a National Board-Certified Teacher is the most respected professional certification available in education and provides numerous benefits to teachers, students and schools. It was designed to recognize accomplished teachers and to generate on-going improvements in schools nationwide.
“A lot goes into this and we appreciate you working hard and doing this.”
Marshall County Board of Education President, Brian Naugher, also spoke to the group about their accomplishments.
“It’s very appropriate that Cindy was talking about a tree and growth. This last year the district as a whole for every school went up in their grades and it’s because of growth. It’s because of people like y’all that get out there and further their education and improve their craft as teachers,” he said.
“It’s not easy what y’all do and this is a hard program. It takes a lot of time and blood, sweat and tears. I just want to say thank you for your effort and your willingness to step out and to take the challenge to become board-certified. Now let’s get back in the schools and apply those skills that you’ve learned and help us grow across the district this next year to another level to help the kids. That’s what this is for to help our kids. Again, thank you, we appreciate your sacrifice and your efforts.”
