Marshall County Virtual School Celebrates Success and Begins Its Third Year
Marshall County Schools is proud to begin the third year of Marshall County Virtual School, a full-time virtual public school serving students in grades 9–12. What began as an innovative solution to meet the diverse needs of students across our district has quickly become a life-changing opportunity for many young people seeking an alternative path to earning their high school diploma.
As we enter our third year, we are excited to celebrate a remarkable achievement from the 2025–2026 school year. Marshall County Virtual School enrolled 55 seniors from across the county, and we are proud to report that every single one of those students graduated. Achieving a 100% graduation rate among our senior class is an extraordinary accomplishment and a testament to the dedication of our students, families, teachers, and support staff.
Perhaps even more importantly, we firmly believe that many of these students may not have reached graduation without the flexibility, support, and personalized learning opportunities provided through Marshall County Virtual School. This program has opened doors for students facing a variety of challenges and circumstances, allowing them to continue their education and achieve their goal of earning a high school diploma.
Marshall County Virtual School provides a tuition-free, fully accredited education for students who reside within the Marshall County School District. Students receive instruction aligned with Alabama State Department of Education standards and have access to certified teachers, rigorous coursework, electives, career exploration opportunities, technical education courses, and credit recovery options.
The district continues its partnership with Edgenuity, a nationally recognized online learning provider, to ensure students receive a high-quality educational experience. Students learn through a flexible, self-paced model while maintaining accountability through daily participation and progress monitoring. They report in person only for state-required assessments and testing.
One of the many benefits of the program is that students remain eligible to participate in athletics and extracurricular activities at their zoned school, allowing them to stay connected to their local school community while pursuing their education virtually.
Marshall County Schools is incredibly grateful to our Superintendent and Board of Education, whose vision, leadership, and commitment to student success made this program possible. Recognizing a need within our district, they worked tirelessly to establish a virtual school that provides opportunities for students who may not thrive in a traditional school setting. Their dedication has already changed lives, and the success of our graduates demonstrates the value of offering flexible educational pathways.
As Marshall County Virtual School continues to grow, we remain committed to providing innovative learning opportunities that help every student succeed. We look forward to building on our success and serving even more students in the years ahead.
